The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Job Essentials 

  •  Evaluation of patient health and medical history to identify conditions to be optimized prior to procedures.  

  • Assess patient's current needs by reviewing health history, collaborating with physicians and team members, and reviewing pertinent clinical information to identify and address conditions requiring review or escalation.  

  • Plan with patient/family and health care team to develop an optimization plan which enhances patient outcomes.  

  •  Advocate by resolving barriers to care using available resources and processes. 

  • Work collaboratively with physician(s), patient/family, and other team members to develop goals and plan interventions ensuring seamless patient care and coordination.  

  • Communicate and document interactions and interventions. 

  • Quantify and track activities: Document activities in standardized database or other identified forms.  

  • Participate in refinement of tracking tools. 

  • The prescreening RN will meet the productivity requirements of set metrics (ie. Prescribed number of calls per shift, number of reviewed charts per shift, etc.) 

  •  Adhere to the standardized process for PAT calls (utilizing updated tools, resources, scripting, etc.)  

  • Address logistical, psychosocial, and practical barriers to timely care.  

  • Guide, educate, and advocate for patients in preparation for procedure.     

Shift:

  • Minimum of 16 hours/wk with a current need for 24- 40 hours/wk

  • Training will be in-person for the first two weeks. The position will be remote after training ends.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current RN License in state of practice.

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).

  • Education must be obtained from an accredited institution.

  • Degree will be verified.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. 

  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. 

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.

  • This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. 

  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. 

  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

  • This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). 

  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
