Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) to coordinate and perform daily clinical research activities in accordance with approved protocols administered by the Weafer Alcohol Research Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. We are an advanced cognitive neuroscience research lab studying alcohol use, with a focus on sex differences and risk factors for women. We utilize functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), hormonal assays, and intravenous alcohol administration to study the neural, behavioral, and hormonal factors underlying risk for alcohol use disorder. We are looking to recruit a highly skilled, organized, responsible, motivated, and conscientious individual to manage clinical aspects of NIAAA-funded research projects focused on sex differences in risk for alcohol use disorder.

 

CRN works closely with clinical research assistants and coordinators to assist with clinical operations within the research lab including process improvement and clinical concerns.  CRN also provides oversight of specific clinical protocol activities; maintenance of infusion pumps; functions as central contact point for clinical aspects of protocols; reviews, evaluates and identifies patients eligible for participation in research studies; oversees and supports activities to recruit; interview and enroll study participants; plans, organizes and manages care of participant enrolled in research studies; develops and revises patient care orders; monitors delivery of participant care services and ensures proper and timely follow up; monitors and evaluates participant response to study treatments to identify clinical complications; identifies, addresses, documents and reports adverse reactions to IRB and outside sponsors; educates and directs protocol compliance with physicians and staff nurses; assists in developing clinical tools to meet requirements of new protocols; manages protocols with increased clinical complexities including translational investigator-initiated research; supports activities to ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Boards (IRB), FDA (Federal Drug Administration), federal, state and industry sponsor regulations; assists in implementation of protocols; acts as a participant advocate by providing education to and responding to inquiries from participants about protocols; works with participants to ensure adherence with the protocol.JOB IS FROM: nursingjobs.siteVIEW

Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired

Bachelors degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience; current Ohio licensure or interim permit required; experience in a clinical research capacity conducting clinical research trials preferred; and/or experience in nursing required with experience in specialty area nursing preferred; certification from SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates) or ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals) preferred; Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Clinical Research Nurse to work with the Department of Psychiatry in partnership with the College of Medicine Center for Clinical Research Management (CCRM) to plan, organize and coordinate care of patients on clinical research protocols; evaluates patients for clinical complications related to protocol; assesses patient reaction to any modifications or treatment that are part of the protocol; identifies and documents adverse reactions; communicates with IRB and outside sponsors regarding adverse reactions; participates in the collection and analysis of research data; provides education and direction for protocol compliance; assists in collection and distribution of blood samples; performs clinical research procedures as dictated by the approved protocol in accordance with current licensure; evaluates and determines patient eligibility; develops and revises orders; monitors care and insures proper follow-up; collects and enters data on case report forms; assists in developing plans to meet requirements of new studies/protocols; prepares for external quality assurance and control review.
