Internship Overview:

Are you a motivated and ambitious student with a passion for supply chain management? Get ready to embark on a summer internship that will enhance your skills, provide valuable hands-on experience, and set the stage for a successful career! The Supply Chain Associate Summer Intern will gain the opportunity to work within Duke Energy's Supply Chain team. Interns will be assigned to one of our functional supply chain groups, supporting areas such as Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Gas, Enterprise, Strategic Projects, or the Supply Chain Strategy & Operations area. This role can lead to a long-term career in Supply Chain or serve as a foundational stage to other opportunities within the company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Sourcing Support: Participate in strategic sourcing activities, including category management, sourcing, procurement, and contract-related initiatives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvement solutions.

  • Data Analysis: Perform data analysis and summarize conclusions to support decision-making processes.

  • Research and Financial Analysis: Research sourcing categories and conduct financial analysis of suppliers.

  • Market Tracking: Monitor market conditions and sources of supplies that may impact future procurement.

  • Customer Interaction: Work effectively with internal and external customers to meet project goals.

Basic Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Economics or Business.

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.

  • Must not graduate prior to August 2025

Desired Qualifications 

  • Possess good interpersonal skills and influencing abilities.

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

  • Experience with researching information on the web.

  • Sourcing and/or negotiation experience.

  • Experience using Microsoft based programs for creating spreadsheets, documents, databases, and advanced forms.

  • Project management experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations. In office 2-3 days per week.

  • Housing stipend available when applicable

  • Many of our opportunities require a 40-hour work week.

  • Internship summer session length is 10-12 weeks

  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment
