• Competenze in immunologia, manipolazione batterica, lavoro sotto cappa

• Conoscenza test ELISA di sieri pre-clinici e clinici

• Conoscenza fluente dell’inglese (C1) - comprensione, scritto e parlato

• Ottima conoscenza dell’uso del Pacchetto Office

Cosa farai?

L'obiettivo di GSK Vaccines Institute for Global Health (GVGH) è sviluppare vaccini contro le malattie che colpiscono principalmente i paesi a basso e medio reddito. Il laboratorio di sierologia e immunologia di GVGH, afferente alla funzione di preclinica, è focalizzato a valutare la risposta immunitaria indotta dai candidati vaccini sia a livello preclinico che clinico (fasi I e II), utilizzando e sviluppando nuovi saggi immunologici in high-throughput. Il tirocinante farà parte di un team di scienziati ed eseguirà esperimenti e contribuirà alla concezione, progettazione e interpretazione di dati scientifici a sostegno di progetti di ricerca.

Descrizione del progetto di stage

Il tirocinante acquisirà la conoscenza di varie tecniche sierologiche, che verranno utilizzate per caratterizzare la risposta immunitaria indotta dai candidati vaccini. Le attività sosterranno sia l'avanzamento dei progetti GVGH (principalmente Shigella, Salmonella), sia la pipeline di ricerca. Il lavoro sarà focalizzato sulla determinazione del livello di anticorpi nei sieri animali, nonché sulla valutazione funzionale della risposta mediante saggi di battericidia o altri saggi cellulari.

Competenze da sviluppare:

• Determinazione di quantità di anticorpi antigene-specifici usando metodologia ELISA / Luminex

• Manipolazione di batteri patogeni

• Saggi per valutare la funzionalità degli anticorpi indotti dal vaccino (es. saggi di battericidia complemento mediata, opsonofagocitosi)

• Competenze non tecniche: capacità di seguire procedure operative standard e di lavorare con il team per garantire la manutenzione di apparecchiature e reagenti in conformità con i requisiti GSK ed EHS, sviluppo delle capacità di risoluzione dei problemi.
