Certified Nursing Assistant Sponsorship Program

The Community Wellness Collaborative at the Highlander provides support and resources to the community for career pathways to assist in growing and diversifying Nebraska Medicine’s Workforce. We are currently accepting applications for admission into our CNA Sponsorship Program. This opportunity will support at least 10 students who will gain their CNA while attending the Certified Nursing Assistant course at Clarkson College and is supported by a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to receive the following:

  • Paid Tuition and Books ($525 value)

  • Course supplies including an laptop and backpack.

  • One set of scrubs

  • Ongoing guidance, mentorship, and resources from Nebraska Medicine Leaders

  • Full or Part time employment as a CNA with Nebraska Medicine upon successful certification completion.

This program offers an opportunity to have your certification sponsored by a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska and become a Nebraska Medicine employee in one of our many roles that helps to support our community.

LABS: 5:30 pm - 9:45 pm Mondays, October 14, 21, 28, November 4 CLINICAL: 5:30 pm - 9:45 pm Monday, November 11, Wednesday, November 13, Thursday, November 14, Friday, November 15 STATE EXAMS: Monday, November 18, Tuesday, November 19, Thursday, November 21, Friday, November 22 Free BLS/CPR class: TBD

  • Wednesday Evenings, online start date: 10-09-2024 - WEDNESDAY EVE, all on campus dates are MANDATORY! LABS: 5:30 pm - 9:45 pm Wednesdays, October 15, 23, 30, November 6 CLINICAL: 5:30 pm - 9:45 pm Monday, November 11, Wednesday, November 13, Thursday, November 14, Friday, November 15 STATE EXAMS: Monday, November 18, Tuesday, November 19, Thursday, November 21, Friday, November 22 Free BLS/CPR class: TBD

  • Saturdays, online start date: 10-25-2024 - SATURDAY, all on campus dates are MANDATORY! LABS: 8:30 am - 2:45 pm Saturdays, November 9, 16, 23 (no lab on 11/30 due to Thanksgiving weekend) CLINICAL: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturdays, December 7 & 14 STATE EXAMS: Monday, December 16 Free BLS/CPR class: TBD

Duties: CNA

Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.

Required Qualifications: CNA

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required.

  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska.

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications: CNA

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
