Job Summary

Performs imaging exams and procedures on patients of all ages. Maintains patient safety.

                         

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and performs clinical and research exams.
  • Produces images of optimal quality.
  • Provides technical assistance to physicians, technologists, visiting students and professors, industry representatives and CCHS imaging facilities
  • . Acts as a specialty resource related to patient care, imaging and technology.
  • Performs research component; data collection, recording and analysis.
  • Assists physicians, technologist and physicist research personnel in the development and optimization of new and established imaging techniques for the advancement of clinical research protocols.
  • Provides educational opportunities for residents and fellows within Radiology and other medical and surgical sub-specialties.
  • During the image acquisition maintains all aspects of patient care and education.
  • Participates in activities that promote safety and well being of the patients, visitors and other personnel.
  • Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
  • Maintains a quality assurance program according to FDA and MQSA regulations.
  • Learns new technical information and skills, attends in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

    or CAAHEP Accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

Certifications:

  • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T. (R) (ARRT) or a Registered Diagnostic medical Sonographer (RDMS) or a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), in good standing.
  • Must be certified in particular modality of specialization based on requirements of specific position.
  • Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment, dependent on modality.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes.
  • Ability to communicate well with Radiologist and Physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients.
  • Strong communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients, families and visitors.
  • Ability to function well with minimal or no direct supervision.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum two years recent modality experience.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Frequent pushing or pulling of up to 75 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
