As the Health Economics Graduate Intern for GSK Ireland, you will get on the job work experience of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) through assisting in the completion of a rapid review submission for an innovative medicine from the GSK medicines’ portfolio to the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics (NCPE).

An example of the Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Learn and develop HEOR expertise for a NCPE pharmaco-economic (PE) rapid review (RR) submission for a new GSK innovation medicine.
  • Assume the role of co-author for sections of the PE dossier (RR) to ultimately secure timely patient access to this new GSK medicine (reporting to the Health Economist and supported by the Medical Affairs team for clinical and epidemiology sections and UK HEOR team for pharmaco-economic expertise).
  • Assist in defining the appropriate clinical profiles, relevant comparators and evidence generation needed for delivering a robust RR submission for the innovation in line with the commercial strategy of GSK Ireland. Work with the medical affairs team to identify and include all necessary clinical data and scientific publications required for the RR dossier.
  • Accountable and responsible for gathering the relevant epidemiological, clinical, comparator and ancillary cost of treatment data/inputs required for the production and completion of budget impact analyses for RR dossier.
  • Live the values, principles and expectations of GSK; always act and behave within all ethical, legal and compliance codes of industry and GSK, while delivering timely, robust, value-added and high-quality results for the business.
  • This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be subject to amendment depending on the requirements of the business. Other opportunities will arise for learning and development.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

We are looking for students with these required qualifications, experience and skills to achieve our goals on a TWO-YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT starting during November 2024:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant healthcare profession (e.g. pharmacist, nurse) or bioscience discipline.
  • Masters and/or PhD in Health Economics or related- qualification/discipline.
  • Knowledge of Guidelines for the Economic Evaluation of Health Technologies in Ireland (2019), Guidelines for the Budget Impact Analysis of Health Technologies in Ireland (2018), and the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013.
  • Health economics work experience with NCPE processes, HSE value propositions, evidence generation for HTA dossiers and pricing and reimbursement strategies successfully implemented with the HSE is advantageous.
  • Experience of medical writing and/or track record of scientific publications is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge about the current and planned future developments in the Irish healthcare system, along with the rules, agreements (e.g. IPHA) and regulations specific to HTA and the pricing and reimbursement of medicines in Ireland.
