Assists nurses and providers with numerous duties involving direct and indirect patient care; assists provider with procedures; transports patients within the Institute; assists with patient flow through (ambulatory); monitors and maintains quality assurance and quality improvement activities; procures and processes laboratory test samples from patients for clinical and research testing purposes; performs phlebotomy using venipuncture, butterfly and microsampling techniques; processes proper patient registration and handling of laboratory orders for specimen acquisition within appropriate Hospital and Laboratory Information Systems; processes and routes clinical laboratory testing material to appropriate clinical testing area; maintains laboratory supply inventories and processes requests for supply orders; obtains electrocardiograms assists the unit in maintaining compliance and safety; applies infection control techniques to care. Performs all duties of the Patient Care Technician.Starting hourly range $21.15 - $24.40 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications:
Required Education and ExperienceCertification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Education and Experience:
1. Associate’s degree and the national certification as a Medical Assistant; or
2. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time patient care experience and the national certification as a Patient Care Technician.
NOTE:
1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
