The Director of Nursing for Community Hospitals organizes and directs a team that collaborates with medical staff to ensure efficient patient care and participates in direct patient care as needed. It includes planning and coordinating administrative activities, setting yearly goals, ensuring adequate staffing, and developing capital equipment and clinical space plans. The position also requires conferring with hospital administration on policy and operational issues, maintaining compliance with standards, serving on committees, and developing effective internal and external relationships.Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in nursing and five (5) years of RN experience, two (2) of those years in a leadership role.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
Valid RN license
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and clinical experience in area to be managed are preferred.

Responsibilities
Organize, direct and staff assigned areas in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Collaborate with medical staff and other individuals in planning and facilitating efficient patient care services and patient management. Has capacity and maintains competence to help in direct patient care as needs arise.
Plan, organize, direct and coordinate administrative activities. Collaborate in tactical and strategic program planning. Establish yearly goals for all assigned areas and implement action plans that support strategic goals. Ensure adequate staffing and coverage. Conduct interviews and process hiring for department needs.
Develop capital equipment plans and clinical space plans for ongoing operations and new programs.
Confer with hospital administration and other pertinent individuals concerning policy recommendations, patient care and operational issues. Identify and assist in resolution of problems between staff, physicians, and other departments.
Maintain an organizational structure and staff to accomplish organizational goals and objectives; hire, supervise, and evaluate staff; ensure compliance with applicable standards, practices and regulatory requirements.
Serve on at least one hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area. Demonstrate core standards of exceptional customer service.
Develop and maintain effective relationships internally and externally with physicians, staff, CEO, hospital outreach, local and national organization, agencies, professional associations and community stakeholders allowing for effective communication and results-based leadership activities.
Prepare budgets and monitor revenue and expenditures.
Work to maintain effective use of departmental resources, routinely reports and adjust scheduled based on volume and utilization in cooperation with medical staff.
