Are you a motivated student eager to gain hands-on experience in the financial and insurance sectors? Join our team as an intern in Group Business Underwriting & Contribution Control! This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, assisting in underwriting processes, managing financial transactions, and ensuring accurate reporting.PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A) Group Business Underwriting
Responsibilities:
- Assist in underwriting new and renewal business for Group Customers within specified approval limits.
- Support the assessment of group risk profiles, ensuring fair and consistent evaluations.
- Help process quotation requests, ensuring they meet service standards and customer expectations.
- Adhere to Group Business Underwriting Guidelines and standards.
- Communicate with actuarial, reinsurers, technical services, agents, and intermediaries on complex cases under supervision.
- Assist in portfolio management to help meet profitability objectives.
- Help build and maintain quotation tools to ensure accurate and up-to-date calculations.
- Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
B) Contribution Control
Responsibilities:
- Update payment received and billing transactions in the Statement of Account.
- Issue Official Receipts for payments received.
- Prepare payment lists (GBC) for Finance twice a week for premiums received.
- Monitor the Group General Ledger Listing (Reconciliation).
- Double-check accounting entries booked by the Finance Department.
- Raise Journal vouchers or memos to inform Finance of any corrections.
- Issue commission statements to Finance twice a month according to the Finance format.
- Arrange crediting of commissions upon premium receipt and claw back commissions if there is a premium refund.
- Assist in monthly reporting, ensuring timely submission of sales figures and valuation reports on group business.
- Report retakaful declarations to the retakaful operator.
- Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
