Union Hospital’s Emergency Department provides top quality emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our team focuses on providing treatment based on each individual patient’s specific needs. Our triage process allows us to assess patients by the severity of illness and the needs of the patient – significantly reducing wait times, accomplishing registration immediately and accelerating treatment based on acuity level.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts. This is a PRN position.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs,

Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers, ambulation.
Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.
Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within three months of hire.
Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
