This is an opportunity to join our NICU GIG team in this casual position supporting staffing needs in both our Milwaukee and Fox Valley NICU's.

Experience For NICU GIG role : Two years of Level III NICU bedside nursing experience required. Must have provided Level III NICU bedside care within the past 24 months to qualify, or currently practicing in a direct care nursing role that utilizes an equivalent Level III NICU skill set.

Scheduling requirement is 16 hours every 90 days with 4 hours of education, but no more than 32 hrs/wk in 90 days.

Scheduling available on all shifts, however no scheduling requirements for off shifts, weekend, or holidays. 

Must complete all hospital required education requirements, including passing medication test with a 100% if have not worked at the bedside within the last year.

Complete required quarterly education and competencies. Quarterly education will be completed virtually twice a year and in-person twice a year. Education schedules for in-person education will be sent when available for sign-up. Failure to complete required education prior to assigned date will result in termination from GIG role. 

Provides nursing care to pediatric patients by intervening at various points and units within the continuum of care. Adheres to all professional and established hospital standards and maintains compliance with regulatory guidance while delivering patient care. The Gig Nurse role provides supplement staffing for identified critical nursing needs.  Staff must have interest and ability to work in both the Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee and Fox Valley NICU departments. While there is no requirement to schedule shifts on both campus sites, in order to meet the scheduling requirements of the role, staff may need to consider shifts on both campus’s to meet the requirements. 

Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. 

Acute: Current CPR certification:  BLS for Healthcare Providers from AHA or American Red Cross

Critical: Current CPR, PALS certification within one year

NICU: Current BLS required.  NRP certification preferred. Will consider renewal of NRP within 1 year of hire.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate or higher degree in nursing.
