Job Description:

 The Wound –Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) assists in the coordination of care and education of the wound –ostomy continence patient. The wound ostomy and continence nurse assist in coordinating care for the wound/ostomy continence patient. Serves as a role model for the practice of nursing care.

• Collaborates consults with physician, clinical staff, patients and families to assist in developing and implementing Wound Ostomy Continence plan of care.

• Serves as a resource to staff for patient care needs
• Assists in education of patients and families
• Participates in staff development
• Collaborates and consults with other disciplines, peers, patients and families to provide comprehensive health care.

Requirements

• Current Kentucky unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse required
• BSN within 3 years
• 2 Years of experience
• Wound and Ostomy Care Certification preferred or required within 2 years.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) within 3 months of employment.
