About the Position:
Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Nursing department is hiring for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) who would play a crucial leadership role in overseeing the delivery of nursing care to individuals in a secure environment. The ADON will provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, and promoting professional growth through training and development opportunities; assist in overseeing daily nursing operations, ensuring that all patients receive high-quality, compassionate care in accordance with individualized treatment plans; and collaborate with the Director of Nursing to implement and monitor nursing protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in forensic psychiatric care.

- $3.00/hr shift differentials when working evening, weekends and holidays; $5.00/hr for nights

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and four years of professional nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity and one additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program plus two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity; or a bachelor’s degree in nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity and one additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program plus two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity; or a master’s degree and two years of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity and one additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program plus two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity.View Orignal JOB on: nursingjobs.site
Special Requirements:
- Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
- Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.

About us:
Come grow with us! The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita, OK is a 24 hour/365 day secure inpatient forensic facility with a forensic step-down unit and provides jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma. Currently, OFC has 216 beds for consumers in the main facility who have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. The transitions unit across the street is a secure 52 bed forensic step-down unit. OFC is expanding with construction scheduled to be completed in June 2026 adding an additional 84 beds to the main facility. When completed, OFC will have a total of 300 beds to house consumers in the main facility along with the 52 bed step-down unit.
Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing: Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.
THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
