This Progressive Care Unit provides care to patients recovering from Abdominal and Urological Surgeries, GI Procedures, and Complex Trauma Care. This unit is located at our four-time Designated Magnet Hospital and Level I Trauma Center located on the Kansas City Plaza.  As a nurse on this diverse and fast paced unit, you will perform wound and drain care and post procedural care to high acuity patients.

This is a high performing diverse, patient centered and collaborative team. They work together to make sure all of the patients on the floor get the care they need. They believe in knowledge sharing to help each other grow their skills and are open to change to drive continuous improvement efforts. They are hard-working and willing to go above and beyond for each other and their patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions independently and accountable for utilizing the nursing process.
  • Coordinates the care for a group of patients with the Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately.
  • Identifies hospital resources.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for new employees.
  • Demonstrates positive formal or informal leadership within unit or department.
