Job Summary

The Genetic Counselor provides genetic counseling and risk assessment for the patients and families at CHOC with an emphasis on family centered care through expert practice, education, consultation, research, and leadership. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team; serves as a resource for the medical, nursing, and ancillary team members and community providers. Utilizes evidence-based clinical care and knowledge of genetic counseling and inborn errors. Participates in professional activities including professional lectures, publications, research, text review, or active participation in professional organizations.

Pay Range

Minimum $40.66 Midpoint $53.87 Maximum $67.09

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Shift Information

This position is part time, benefitted, 36 hours per week.

Experience

* Required: Experienced in working with patients and families in a clinical setting.

* Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in an ambulatory setting.

Education

* Required: Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling.

* Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Licensure

* Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Licensed Genetic Counselor - CA

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Medium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
