What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM), the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), is a provider of global investment management services and solutions to institutional, high-net-worth, and individual investors in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. Eastern Canada currently includes Québec, Atlantic Canada, and Ottawa for all CIRO Dealer Members. In partnership with the Advisor Channel Sales (ACS) Leadership team, your mission as the Director, Business Development, Eastern Canada, will be to focus on outcomes, ensure alignment across teams, and enable RBC GAM to exceed advisor expectations while accelerating asset and sales growth. This will enable the firm to double its business over the next five years, as measured by assets under management.

- Accelerate the growth of Advisor Channel assets and sales over the next 3 to 5 years, increasing the number of advisors we work with at focus dealers.
- Work in partnership with the Managing Director, Regional Sales, Eastern Canada, to develop and execute the regional sales plan.
- Effectively lead 7 territories (6 to 7 direct reports), ensuring alignment within and across territory teams.
- Build and maintain a talent pipeline, including fostering the development of Business Development Associates in partnership with the Associate Director, Advisor Channel Sales, Business Development.
- Hire, coach, and retain top sales talent.
- Mentor and develop employees through call coaching, call shadowing, and sharing best practices. Identify and share opportunities and approaches that teams can apply in their respective territories.
- Guide territory business planning and adoption of the firm’s sales process, cultivating service and growth mindsets.
- Promote the use of data and technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of sales teams.
- Foster an internally collaborative and externally competitive team culture with a focus on outcomes, alignment, and support of GAMs strategy and sales approach.
- Promote a culture of appropriate expense management and compliance with sales practices.
- As a member of the ACS Leadership team, you will be accountable for national results, in addition to Eastern Canada results.
- As part of the ACS Leadership team, you will help develop our strategy roadmap and implement our sales strategy, representing RBC GAM and the RBC iShares ETF platform alliance.
- Communicate our national roadmap and vision to regional teams and enable them to execute effectively.
- Be an ambassador for RBC GAM, participate in cross-functional projects, and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders in helping execute on both team and business strategies.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs.
- Proven track record in sales and/or sales leadership, including specific experience with CIRO Dealer Members.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and leading high performing teams.
- Growth mindset, ability to make informed and sound decisions in response to fast-paced change, and ability to approach complex challenges with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Technical knowledge of capital markets and deep understanding of mutual funds, ETFs, models, and segregated funds.
- Strong relationship management skills and proven ability to engage partners in the pursuit of collective goals.
- Ability to travel for business.
