Responsible for the provision of recreation and leisure activities to patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years experience working as an activities coordinator or as a volunteer coordinator in a social services environment.

1. Organizes patient activities programs for both individuals and groups, as appropriate, based upon individual and unit needs, promoting patient well-being.

2. Works through Volunteer Services to plan, organize, and implement leisure activities, including physical, social, , creative/expressive, intellectual and other as appropriate.

3. Works with unit managers and staff to identify and provide unit-based leisure activity programs and opportunities for patients.

4. Coordinates hospital volunteers to provide leisure activities and services to benefit patients.

5. Ensures coverage of weekend and evening activities as needed.

6. Assists in interviewing, training, coordinating, and evaluation of patient activity volunteers.

7. Provides office support and coverage as needed in Volunteer Services office.

8. Plans, organizes and executes event requests for the Monti Bear Mascot.

9. Accepts referral from units and physicians to visit patients.

10. Assesses referred patients for leisure interests, needs, and problems. Develops and implements activities appropriate to each patient.

11. Involves and informs healthcare professionals, family members, and others of activities and responses as indicated.

12. Communicates patient needs/concerns through proper chain of command, assuring patient needs/requests are being met.

13. Maintains records and other documentation as indicated.

14. Collects, organizes, and analyses programmatic data as needed.

15. Submits requisition for supplies and equipment applicable to Patient Activities program use.

16. Assists with budget control.

17. Promotes and contributes positively to the intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.

1. This position requires a wide range of body motion. Moderate to heavy physical activity may be required. This includes lifting, pushing a loaded cart, and exercise type activities.

2. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods required.

3. Finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary.

4. Occasionally transports and carries items of moderate weight.

5. May occasionally transport patients.

6. Requires working under irregular hours at times.

Additional Job Description:

Employee will organize activity coordinator role with care planning, assessments, and implementation and engagement of meaningful activities for patients. Will coordinate with onsite Clinical Care Social Worker of admission and discharge of patient population across the continuum of care.
