Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

South Pointe Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides treatment to patients suffering from various medical conditions that require advanced medical, surgical and cardiac care. Typical patient diagnoses that you will see on this unit are sepsis, respiratory, DKA, suicide monitoring, overdose monitoring, post-cardiac arrest hypothermia, altered mental status, and stroke. By taking this opportunity, you will join a team that is committed to the growth and development of its caregivers and creates an environment that encompasses open communication and teamwork. You’ll have access to the E-ICU Program, a program that leverages the latest communication, video conferencing and remote monitoring technologies, and opportunities to support professional practice through unit champion/resource committee participation.
A caregiver in this position works a day/night rotation of 7:00am – 7:30pm or 7:00pm – 7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within six months of hire.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
