JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
JOB SUMMARY:
This individual is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the medical management and care of patients needing Advanced Endoscopy. The Advanced Endoscopy APRN will function as a central figure for Advanced Endoscopy GI Services in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will manage patients in need of advanced endoscopy procedures with consultation, collaboration, and general supervision and under a collaborative practice agreement with medical staff advanced endoscopy gastroenterologists. In doing so, this person will utilize extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, physiology and pharmacology. The APP will exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes, procedures and protocols depending on level of expertise. Nurse Practitioners will work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The Advanced Endoscopy APRN will also comply with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. This position will support the goals and objectives of the department, the Advanced Endoscopy Program, the St. Tammany Cancer Center, the Endoscopy Suite, and the hospital. Required to work primarily day shift Monday – Friday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Louisiana State APRN Licensure
- 3-5 years of related experience preferred
- Eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Louisiana as approved by St Tammany Health System
- Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
- Strong physician and administrative relationship management skills
- Complies with/obeys all health system and departmental policies and procedures
- Works effectively with limited supervision and follows through on assignments without being reminded
- Ability to build trust and consensus, lead change, and activate support among physician colleagues
- Motivational, credible, trustworthy, with strong self-accountability
- Successful influencer who can effectively interact with diverse groups of stakeholders, including patients, physicians, administration, payers, and clinical staff
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Frequently (34%-66%) - handling/feeling, talking
Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching, reaching
