As needed, 8-hour shifts, no on call, every other weekend, rotating holiday schedule
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team at Baptist Health Hardin. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, research, or blood donations. You will work closely with patients, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection while maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs invasive phlebotomy procedures on Neonates/infants-birth to 1 year, Pediatrics- age 1 to 12 years, Adolescents- age 12 to 18 years, Adults- age 18 to 65 years, and Geriatrics- age 65 and older while adhering to strict infection control and safety policies as well as all HIPAA Privacy Regulations.

Keeps work area clean and organized, stocks and maintains phlebotomy collection trays.
Transpose and order outpatient testing via computer system.
Assist with answering telephone and directing in-coming calls.
Assist with collections of legal drug screens and other collections procedures as deemed necessary.
Process all incoming specimens into lab, prepare specimens for shipment to reference lab with proper preservation.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required, or higher.
Must demonstrate outstanding communication skills with patients and other health care personnel, professionalism, and acceptance of responsibility to quality specimen collection that plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and management of diseases.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills required, as are self-motivation and self-direction in the workplace.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
One or more years of experience in the phlebotomy field is preferred (on-the-job training will be considered).
Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program preferred.
