Job Description
2025 Summer Intern – Structural Biology
Department Summary
The Department of Structural Biology is a world-leading research and drug discovery organization focusing on cutting-edge biomedical questions. We pursue challenging and important problems that aim to uncover fundamental biological mechanisms that would advance our understanding of human physiology in health and disease. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) suite with two Titan Krios electron microscopes, Glacios electron microscope, and other equipment that is readily available and accessible for use during the internship.JOB IS FROM: nursingjobs.siteVIEW
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated scientist interested in using structural biology to understand the molecular mechanism of action of large macromolecular complexes involved in DNA repair processes. The internship involves protein purification, reconstitution, and structure determination of DNA-protein complexes using cryoEM. Additionally, you would help us develop functional biochemical assays to assess and determine the mechanism of action of various multi-subunit protein complexes. You will be highly encouraged to think deeply about the biological problem, make significant intellectual contributions to the chosen research project, and work closely with other team members.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June 2025.
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
