Program Summary

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Sensors Directorate researches and develops sensor and countermeasure technologies for reconnaissance, surveillance, precision engagement and electronic warfare systems. The goal is to provide robust sensors and adaptive countermeasures that guarantee complete freedom of air, space and cyber operations for our forces, and deny these capabilities to our adversaries.

Job Summary

Support the Air Force Laboratory (AFRL) Sensor’s Directorate Electro Optics (EO)/Infrared (IR) Technologies branch to help advance R&D efforts in the field of EO/IR.  Perform research under the direction of a senior scientist in the area of laser sources.  Assess components related to Photonic Integrated Circuits.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include research and development tasks associated with the analysis of photonics applications
  • Provide research and development for a multitude of laser sources
  • Characterize Photonic Integrated Circuits and related components
  • Assist in maintaining and improving characterization setups.
  • Provide data analysis, and assist in the generation of reports and presentations to convey progress and results

Basic Qualifications

  • Be in the senior year of an engineering or physics undergraduate program at an accredited university
  • Be a US citizen
  • Able to work in laboratory environment and team setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Performed undergraduate-level research
