Lutheran Hospital’s operating room consists of eight operating room suites and one dedicated cystoscopy suite. Offering sophisticated technology and advanced medical care in an intimate and friendly environment, our surgical volume is composed primarily of orthopedics, including spine, total joint, and sports procedures. Other services provided include general surgery, podiatry, urology, and more.
A caregiver in this position works days + call, 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00am—5:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
Perform scrub and circulating functions.
Prepare the OR, surgical instruments, and equipment for use.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
