About the unit 

We care for patients in the Pre-op, Recovery, and Post-Op phase of care.  We provide inpatient and outpatient services for a variety of surgical patients including ortho, general surgery, urology, spine, and bariatrics. Our unit is a great place to advance your nursing skills to include critical thinking, time management, assessment, and patient satisfaction.  We are a talented team that is very engaged in patient safety, patient satisfaction, and quality.  We have multiple opportunities to be involved in unit-based committees including shared governance, retention, and education.

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.  Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological,

sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.  Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent  

  •  AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 Days of hire required
