Job Description

Position Summary:

The Charge Nurse is responsible for the smooth and efficient patient flow within the ASC. Delegates assignments and provides supervision for the support staff in accordance with their level of training and the patient's acuity. Works, in cooperation with the Nursing Director and medical providers to ensure the quality of patient care.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Nursing Director, is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating daily operations to ensure quality patient care.
  • Be the liaison between the Physician and staff.
  • Provides leadership and support in day-to-day operations within the clinical setting along with the Nursing Director. Serves as a role model and consultant for staff.
  • In collaboration with the Nursing Director, ensure policies and procedures are properly communicated and adhered to. Ensures staff members are competent in emergency protocol and procedures.
  • Completes and populates staff monthly schedules. Identifies staffing needs in advance, assists in utilizing resources effectively.
  • Monitors and controls overtime use. Manages weekly staff payroll.
  • Coordinates and assists with training, monitoring, and evaluation of staff. Plans and assists in the hiring and orientation of new office staff.
  • In collaboration with the Nursing Director, evaluates clinical staff according to policy and provides ongoing feedback. Conducts an annual performance evaluation input on each staff member of the department.
  • Monitors departmental compliance with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements (AORN, AAAHC, OSHA, HIPPA, Occurrence Reporting, State); reports compliance concerns; ensures utilization of resources for resolution of issues.
  • Resource for department to manage patient issues and concerns; reports back to Providers, Chief Administrative Officer and Nursing Director.
  •  In collaboration with the Nursing Director, maintains and expands staff competencies, as well as implementing ongoing internal education programs and encouraging participation in outside continuing education. Increases operational efficiency in sites through cross training of personnel. Supports any/all Career Ladder opportunities to bring staff to their highest potential.
  • Conducts staff meetings; communicates pertinent Rye ASC initiatives and information to staff. Attends Nursing Director, departmental and supervisory meetings if requested.
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement and infection prevention programs
  • Meets with Nursing Director to analyze service line clinical performance issues and/or determine whether a system-wide performance improvement initiative is warranted. Identifies best practices for implementation.
  • Manages relationships with outside vendors to ensure contract compliance and effective levels of support
  • Responds to patient concerns. Promotes quality patient care and service.

General Qualifications Standards & Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing Required. Bachelor’s Degree In Nursing Preferred
  • Active BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification
  • Current NY State RN License
  • Peri-operative experience is required

    Pay Range $115,000to $135,000

    The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
