JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

JOB SUMMARY:

The RN Pre-Admission Testing Supervisor assumes responsibility for overall operations of the Pre-Admission Testing Department including, but not limited to, scheduling of patients, obtaining required physician documentation and ensuring appropriate screening, education, and preparation of patients for their procedures.  Responsibilities also include ordering supplies, staffing, planning and the coordination, supervision and evaluation of clinical performance and efficiency. The Supervisor is responsible for assuring quality standards and maintaining safe practices in the Pre-Admission Testing area according to evidence based practice and professional guidelines (e.g. AORN, TJC, AAMI).  All operations of the Pre- Admission Testing Department must be in compliance with the Joint Commission guidelines. This position serves as a role model in providing leadership and direction using a multidisciplinary team approach to ensure productivity, efficiency and coordination while enforcing the policies and procedures of the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered RN in Louisiana; BSN required unless in current program or plans to enter BSN program within 1 year of employment; 5 years Medical-Surgical or Peri-Operative experience; Management experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills, EKG testing and basic interpretation skills.

Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to:  Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.  The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must possess good physical health.  Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.  Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.  Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:        
Constant (67%-100%) - reaching, seeing, handling/feeling, talking, hearing
Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying, reaching, stooping, crouching
Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.) and balancing
