JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
JOB SUMMARY:
The RN Supervisor of STHS PRE-OP & PACU is a clinical leader who assists with 24-hour responsibility for planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating clinical performance, efficiency, and safety practices. This includes responsibility for managing the day-to day operations of the Pre-op and PACU. Responsible for assuring quality standards are met according to evidence-based practice and professional guidelines (e.g. ASPAN, AORN, TJC). Responsibilities also include ordering supplies, staffing, daily charge reconciliation and measuring/reporting monthly statistical data. Serves as a role model in providing leadership and direction using a multidisciplinary team approach to ensure productivity, efficiency, and coordination while enforcing Medical Staff/Perioperative policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current, unencumbered LA RN license
- Current BLS, ALS, & PALS required. These certifications are offered through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check-off.
- Graduate of an accredited RN program, BSN preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU clinical experience required
- Leadership, communication, organization, time management, and critical thinking skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preoperative experience preferred.
- Pre-Op and/or PACU Charge Nurse or Management experience preferred.
- CPAN or CAPA preferred.
- Computer skills Microsoft word and Excel strongly encouraged.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking
Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
