Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Dean, the Nursing Program Director will be responsible for overall leadership, development, direction, and administration of all aspects of the nursing program, for ensuring that the program is in compliance with all rules and regulations of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, ACEN, and for coordinating the nursing curriculum with other degree program requirements. The Nursing Program Director is also responsible for areas related to advising students, program development and effectiveness, clinical site management, internship management, student progression, review and analysis of program data and outcomes, scheduling (student and faculty), student learning outcomes, and retention in accordance with the University's policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Personnel- 25%

1. Initiates interviewing, recruitment, orientation, and coordination of faculty.

2. Develops rapport with faculty to work collaboratively on all program aspects.

3. Coordinates semester meetings with coordinators/faculty to discuss concerns and recommendations for program needs related 10 LSBN rules and regulations for student/faculty ratios.

4. Serves as mentor to new faculty regarding program expectations, policies and other matters as needed for the faculty role (i.e., publisher/partners materials, clinical agency contacts and more).

Administration-25%

I. Develops semester staffing plains for courses and distributes to university administration.

2. Maintains authority with program department budget planning and management, as outlined in LSBN rules/regulations and ACEN Standards.

3. Manages/participates in student orientation for incoming students a a student advocate.

4. Establishes working rapport with clinical partners to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical rotations for student learning opportunities

5. Ensures compliance with LSBN rules/regulations and ACEN standards through completion of annual reports, implementation of systemic plan of evaluation, faculty qualification forms, clinical agency approval forms, and other as designated.

6. Manages compliance activities with clinical and community agencies to ensure all requirements are in place prior to semester rotations, to include student health requirements, current affiliation agreement, fully executed LSBN forms for site approval, orientation schedules, and other items as specific to locations.

Curricula, Teaching, and Learning- 25%

I. Develops, implements, and evaluates the curricula in collaboration with the faculty committee.

2. Ensures analysis and use of findings related to curricula, teaching, student learning, persistence and success to license.

3. Fosters excellence in teaching and learning across multiple deliver formats.

Committee Responsibility-20%

I. Faculty Committee - Serves us facilitator for committee and works with sub-committees as needed for detailed needs.

2. University Committees - Participates on university committees in which professional staff can serve.

3. Student Selection Committee - Facilitates committee for each cohort of associate degree nursing students selected.

Performs other duties as assigned-5%

Education Level: Master's Degree

Nursing (MSN or MA in Nursing)

Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana or compact licensure state.

Minimum of three (3) years experience in clinical practice and nursing higher education.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D

Doctoral degree with a major in nursing (i.e., DNP, DNS, EdD, Ph.D.in Nursing)

Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana or compact licensure state. Minimum of five (5) years experience in clinical practice and nursing higher education.

Special and/or Physical Qualifications

Prolonged and frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping.

Moderate to heavy usage of hands in grasping, repetitive hand movement and finger coordination in keeping records and preparing reports using a computer keyboard.

Speech and hearing to communicate effectively in group settings and by telephone to students, faculty, staff, and others.

Certifications and/or Licenses

Louisiana RN License Current and Unencumbered

Class E Driver's License Current and Unencumbered

Salary: $90,000.00-$105,000.00/yr
