4G is a 20-bed Cardiovascular and Thoracic telemetry unit with a purpose of providing excellent care and great quality outcomes to all patients through a multidisciplinary team approach. The unit specializes in serving adult and geriatric post operative cardiovascular/thoracic surgeries (CABG, AVR/MVR, Bronch/Thor, Fem-Pop, and other thoracic/vascular surgeries). The unit supports additional disciplinaries in Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, and Infectious Disease, providing care for complex patients with acute/chronic illness and multiple co-morbidities. The origin of access includes transfers from ICU, PACU, CVOU, ED, transfers from outlying facilities, and direct admits from physician offices.

The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
Basic life support
ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
