Health Equity & Drivers of Health Intern (Graduate - Summer) (centene)

An Intern in this role can expect to:
Inventory currently available reporting dashboards and tools that focus on health equity and/or include data elements related to health equity data initiatives
- Conduct key informant interviews and independently explore web-based reporting platforms
- Compile a list of dashboards and tools, complete with locations, access permissions required, technical owners, business owners, intended audience(s), and primary-tertiary purposes/use cases
- Create a summary document on areas of overlap, recommendations for consolidation, and gaps to resolve.
Create requirements documentation for next-phase development of a key health equity reporting dashboard
- Review and document existing user feedback from technical owners and the User Experience (UX) Team
- Gather additional feedback from Health Equity subject matter experts (SMEs)
- Consolidate all feedback into business requirements that can be used by dashboard developers and in user acceptance testing (UAT)
Research SNAP and update an informational resources for health plans
- Research policy changes to SNAP, WIC, state programming – including any change in steps such as work requirements.
- Use research to update Centene’s SNAP application assistance playbook created and published for health plans partnering with food banks to improve successful SNAP applications.
Experience/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent undergraduate coursework completed. Must be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited university or college in a field related to the hiring department through the internship period.
Must-have:
- Strong analytical skills: has experience using data to “tell a story” through interactive, web-based tools
- Consulting experience: can easily frame a problem, approach to understanding key issues and potential solutions, conduct stakeholder interviews, and recommend solutions
- Experience designing and implementing programs addressing health equity and/or drivers of health.
- High emotional quotient (EQ) and interpersonal skills: will have to meet and interview many people to shape recommendations; quickly build trust and credibility for people to share honest opinions about existing tools
- Organized and detail oriented
- Strong communicator: written and verbal, can tailor communication to different audiences (e.g. technical, executive)
Ideal but not necessary:
- Interest in health equity
- Experience completing or supporting people completing SNAP application process
100% Remote, 40hrs/wk. (12-week Internship)
Pay: $20/hr. - $29/hr.
