***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations, patient interviews, and document results.
- Develops, recommends, and implements standard operating instructions and practices pertaining to the administration and management of anesthetics that ensure client safety, confidentiality, and timely ethical and quality service.
- Select and prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments to patients.
- Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular systems.
- Evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur.
- Monitors the effects of specific anesthesia, drugs, techniques, and patient reactions.
- Select, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications, anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products as necessary.
- Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care.
- Perform or evaluate the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
- Monitor patients' responses, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output, using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
- Assess patients' medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
- Select, prepare, or use equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics. Calibrate and test anesthesia equipment.
- Insert arterial catheters or perform arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples.
- Insert peripheral or central intravenous catheters.
- Instruct staff on topics such as anesthetic techniques, pain management and emergency responses.
- Request anesthesia equipment repairs, adjustments, or safety tests.
- Maintains continuing education activities.
- Comply with all applicable Acuity International standards and guidelines.
- Other Duties as assigned.
- All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.
Qualifications:
- Must have completed an accredited Nursing training program leading to a diploma, certification, or bachelor’s degree.
- Must have completed an accredited Nurse Anesthetist school in the US resulting in a diploma or master’s degree.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Nurse Anesthetist.
- Must hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Medical license as a Nurse Anesthetist.
- Must hold a current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRBA).
- Must have and maintain current certification:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is highly desirable.
- All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
