Performs as a Nursing Assistant within the care management team under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Performs delegated nursing tasks for which competence is demonstrated through the Nursing Assistant skills checklist.
Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations at a level preferably acquired through completion of a high school education or equivalent.
Registered with the State of Wisconsin Registry for Nursing Assistants (CNA) to be eligible for employment in the basic provider settings.
Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
Possesses and competently demonstrates core Nursing Assistant skills as outlined in the skill competency checklist and understands the role of performing delegated tasks.
Possesses a willingness and the initiative to successfully complete educational requirements while developing and learning new skills as required by the unit.
Possesses effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team.
Possesses rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations.
Unit description:
The Emergency Department/Trauma Center provides emergency health care for children and adolescents up until their 18th birthday who present for care. Emergency care is provided for all types of illnesses and injuries, 24 hours a day. The severity of illness and injury varies and is defined by the Triage guidelines as non-urgent, urgent, and emergent. 54% of all inpatient admissions will come from the EDTC, which is 17% of all EDTC patients. With the frequent populations seen, collaborative practice protocols help to expedite care delivered. May consider new grad candidates who have hospital or EMT patient care employment experience outside of school clinicals.
Schedule:
The schedule for this position is 7:00pm-7:00am 1 shift per week.
