Overview
The Magnet Program Director supports the mission of Riverside to provide oversight of the Magnet Program. This includes implementation of creative systems, processes, shared decision making, and clinical practices that improve patient care delivery. Responsible for ensuring the Magnet framework and domains are encultured and hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and collaboration with nursing leadership. Coordinates all aspects of Magnet application, annual reports, and re-designation. Essential functions and responsibilities include: • Coordinates efforts to achieve and maintain Magnet designation • Leads education for staff and leaders on key initiatives and Magnet principles, standards, and expectations. • Responsible to ensuring Magnet principles are hardwired throughout the organization. • Fosters an environment for shared governance and shared decision making at the hospital and the unit level. • Participates in system-level councils • Coordinates and facilitates Magnet councils/task forces/committees • Acts as a resource/advisor for all magnet-related readiness groups • Facilitates and oversees the preparation of documentation, policies, research, and quality data for Magnet submission • Oversees the collection of key nurse sensitive indicators and outcomes and develops all reports and demographics for submission to Magnet. Manages NDNQI processes • Maintains expert knowledge of current Magnet requirements and ensures organizational awareness and success • Functions as the primary liaison with the Magnet Program Office. • Facilitates and engages administration, physicians, nurse leaders, staff, and all interprofessional staff for the Magnet site visit.

What you will do
  • Ensures the ANCC Magnet tenants are maintained throughout the nursing division through education, newsletters, meetings, etc. This includes but is not limited to the challenges and opportunities for improvement and gap analysis, as well as how Magnet affects all aspects of care delivery.
  • Develops and maintains a nursing dashboard composed of nursing sensitive outcomes to be routinely shared with nurse leaders and staff nurses. Completes and submits the Magnet organizational demographics.
  • Assists the system-level director of research and the RRMC Research Council in developing and facilitating staff involvement in nurse driven research and evidence based practice following the Magnet tenants for advancing nursing practice and research.
  • Develops and supports a structured shared governance model at the facility and unit levels to support staff nurse involvement in committees and task forces to improve patient care and operations.
  • Assists in the annual goals and strategic plans to include ongoing processes for nursing participation in advancing degrees, certifications, and attendance at regional and national meetings/conferences. Participates in any human resource department initiatives or policy revisions related to the above to ensure alignment with Magnet tenants.
  • Assists in facilitating ongoing formal education, mentoring, and succession planning for nurse leaders in alignment with Magnet principles.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required)

Experience
  • 2 years Nursing Experience in hospital setting (Preferred)
  • 1 year Program Management experience (Required)
  • 2 years Nursing Educator experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
