As the external face of Bronson Lab, our Lab Couriers play a vital role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of clinical specimens and supplies. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail to maintain high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport Samples: Drive to client offices for specimen pickups and deliveries according to established routes and schedules.
- Daily Documentation: Track deliveries, times, and transport contents meticulously.
- Specimen Handling: Safeguard and properly handle specimens during transport; verify proper patient identification and documentation.
- Client Communication: Address client concerns and communicate any issues to department leaders.
- Route Management: Adjust routes for urgent, stat requests as directed by the Lab Courier Dispatcher.
- Additional Duties: Assist with transporting inter-office mail and supplies as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Driver's License: Valid Michigan Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent courtesy, tact, and a strong orientation toward customer service.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record-keeping.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain efficiency across tasks.
- Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting objects (up to 20 lbs), standing, and walking for extended periods. Must drive in various weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
- Team-oriented environment with problem-solving and creative thinking.
- Exposure to potentially infectious materials; adherence to safety policies is essential.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
