Summer Hall Director Internship Goals
The Summer Hall Director Internship at the University of Louisville is an excellent opportunity for a graduate student to work in a comprehensive and progressive housing operation. This intern will gain meaningful experience in the summer housing program and, through collaboration, become familiar with all other areas of the department’s operations. The intern will also expose UofL staff to new ideas and practices.
Learning Outcomes will be developed jointly between the intern and the supervisor. These learning outcomes will be used to measure the impact and success of the experience for both parties.
Areas of responsibility include:
Assist with the day-to-day operation of the summer resident hall, including check-in/checkout for each summer session, programming, maintenance requests, etc.
Deliver excellent customer service throughout the resident experience and encourage the same from other employees.
Under the direction of the Area Coordinator, assist in supervising the student resident assistant (RA) Staff, including scheduling, creating, developing, and facilitating staff training and development.
Assist in summer resident hall programming and event planning for students
Participate in On-Call duty rotation as needed.
Assist, as needed, with the front desk operation, including staffing and customer service concerns.
Collaborate with the Resident Experience Team to create a recruitment plan and marketing strategies to expand opportunities for summer students.
Assist with University Housing Central office responsibilities such as room assignments, room changes, and roster verifications.
Additional duties to be determined based on the successful candidate's interests.
Employment
Dates of employment are May 1st through August 8th (start/end dates are flexible). The intern will be supervised by the Assistant Director for Resident Experience (but working hand in hand with the building Area Coordinator) and will work approximately 29 hours a week for $18.00 per hour. A private room and a $500 flex meal plan provided for use at available on-campus dining operations. A parking pass, gym pass, and two free wash cycles and two free dry cycles each week are also included. The intern will have an opportunity to explore and experience Louisville, Kentucky's cultural, recreational, and social opportunities.

Requirements
This position is designed for an individual pursuing a Master’s degree. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Applicants in a Higher Education or related graduate program with an expressed interest in Housing will be considered first.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
