Casual Nurse to work over all shifts as required including nightshifts

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely. 


About the role

We are values-driven and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide specialised nursing intervention, clinical assessments, group work and referral for clients admitted to Fairhaven Detox in a safe, sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.

This is a Casual Registered Nurse position based at our Gold Coast Recovery Services Centre Fairhaven in the Withdrawal Unit. Must be able to do/cover all shifts including night shifts - shifts are 7.85 hrs plus paid 30 min break.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the QLD Nurses Enterprise Agreement Award Level 2.

You will successfully

  • Deliver advanced clinical knowledge and skills in clinical assessment program delivery

  • Identify, plan, implement and evaluate in conjunction with other team members and other medical treatment specialists
  • Admit, discharge and maintain case notes and other required documentation and handover at the change of shifts
  • Provide consultation and input to other team members and support clients case management plans 
  • Maintain accurate documentation, exercising discretion regarding issues of confidentiality at all times in accordance with TSA policies

You will have

  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing and Registration as per the Qld Nurses Registration Board
  • Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • At least 2 years experience in nursing in the Drug & Alcohol recovery/environment
  • Knowledge and ability to work in the Drug and Alcohol Field
  • Demonstrated understanding of Medication Management
  • Clinical nursing and assessment skills and understanding of professional nursing issues
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
