About The Team
The Small Animal Internal Medicine service at The Animal Hospital offers comprehensive solutions for a range of complex medical issues in dogs and cats. Specialties include endocrine, gastrointestinal, renal/urinary, heart, respiratory, liver, neuromuscular, immune-mediated, and blood disorders, as well as skin diseases. Utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques and equipment, including video endoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography, CT, MRI, electrocardiography, blood pressure monitoring, and an on-site laboratory, we ensure timely and accurate diagnostics. Our fully equipped ICU provides 24-hour critical care and our Oncology suite, chemotherapy administration. Collaborating with dermatology, surgery, critical care, pathology, imaging, and anaesthesia teams, we adopt a multidisciplinary approach for holistic and patient-centred care. Team members will regularly communicate with referring veterinarians, so the best and most convenient patient care is offered to our clients for their pets. You would be joining a team of 5 veterinary nurses, the service is open to clientele 08:00 -18:00 Weekdays.

The key purpose of this role is to provide high quality veterinary nursing care to animals in The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University. Working days for this position are Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Your Key responsibilities will include –
- Providing all aspects of veterinary nursing care as per the Certificate IV of Veterinary Nursing and the Prescribed Duties of Veterinary Nurses within the Vet Surgeons Act of WA.
- Oversee patient care in the patient wards and during and after procedures.
- Communicate with and respond to enquiries from veterinary hospital clients, referring veterinarians and general public by various means such as SMS; telephone; email.
- Instruct students in correct methods of instrument and drape preparation; surgical site preparation; aseptic techniques and monitor the application and maintenance of those techniques.

This is a Fixed Term (12 Months) | Part time, (22.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $70,494K – $77,281K (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions (with the option to sacrifice 5.5% of the 17% employer superannuation into your salary).

Selection Criteria:
- Completion of a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent, or completion of a relevant Veterinary Nursing Diploma level qualification registrable in Western Australia.
- Demonstrated confidence and skill when handling and restraining small animals.
- Excellent organisational, time and workload management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Highly effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, and the demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, assume responsibility for tasks and projects and to resolve problems.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as fitting seamlessly into a team environment.
