Job Description

Job Summary :

To be classified as a SNI, the person must be presently enrolled in an accredited Associate or
Baccalaureate nursing program and have completed basic clinical patient care/nursing skill experience in a facility setting (nursing clinicals). Until the graduate of a nursing program successfully passes the NCLEX-RN examination and receives a license, he/she will function under the SNI job description. The student will submit documentation from his/her program relative to skill checkoffs (in clinical or lab setting), course objectives, and curricula content or course description.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Fiscal Responsibility

a. use supplies and equipment and timekeeping system efficiently

b. complete assignments and duties in a timely manner

c. demonstrate productivity and accepts EDO and float assignments

d. fill out appropriate work orders and support unit goals to eliminate waste

2. Quality

a. participate and appropriately transcribe and document per unit specific standards and remain up to date with policy changes

b. provide delegated aspects of quality care in the order of priority designated by the RN and as designated in care conferences, in- services, and approved educational programs

c. possess ability to problem solve and to multitask within their scope of practice

d. offer suggestions to improve unit flow and engage in teamwork e. accept delegation of tasks appropriately including patient care and clerical functions.

3. Patient Satisfaction

a. promote patient satisfaction

b. timely response to patient needs

c. practice professional use of personal electronic devices in patient care areas and keep noise to a minimum at all times

d. exemplify excellent guest relations to patients, family members, and visitors; offer suggestions to improve patient satisfaction

e. practice purposeful patient rounding

f. practice HRH Greeting (Hello, Reason, How may I help you) g. provide holistic care for all types of diverse patient populations

4. Patient Safety

a. practice safe patient mobilization and incorporate fall prevention interventions

b. observe and reports to the RN patient responses to care provided within the specified work period and supports individualized patient care by readily responding to on-going, intermittent, and unexpected changes in delegated aspects of care.

c. use 2 patient identifiers with all tasks and point of care testing

d. utilize the event management system for each unusual occurrence

e. adjust care routines to meet the individual patient needs in the role of UC or UCA as assigned

f. adhere to HIPAA and follow social media policy

5. Professional Growth

a. share knowledge and skills with colleagues and others including orientation and cross-training

b. demonstrate leadership and be a resource for peers, be an active council member, be a super user, serve as a preceptor

c. identify professional needs and collaborates with management for learning opportunities for self and for the unit

d. participate in development and implementation of departmental goals

e. attend product practice change in-services

6. Customer Service

a. provide a professional and quiet patient environment, be flexible with assignments, staffing needs and assigned shifts

b. promote commitment to co-workers, view all staff as part of an equal team and be approachable at all times, and maintain interdepartmental

7. RN Precepted Shifts

a. This role will be working as a unit clinical assistant and with the opportunity to have precepted RN shifts. The focus for precepted time with an RN will include the application of physical assessment and vital sign findings, skin inspection, strategies in harm prevention, opportunities for further developing critical thinking, enhancing effective communication, and symptom management interventions b. Refer to Delegation of Duties Policy for specific skills allowed for this role
