The Opportunity:
The Registered Nurse 1 (RN1) practices nursing in the medical clinic of Cougar Health Services (CHS) for the students of WSU Pullman. The RN1 reports to the Nurse Manager and provides nursing services under the general guidance of higher-level nursing staff (RN2) and the general supervision of the clinic’s healthcare providers(HCPs). The RN1 uses interventions substantiated by research appropriate to the position, education, and practice environment. The American College Health Association “Scope and Standards of College Health Nursing Practice” is used as a guide for the standard of care. The RN1 will be familiar with electronic health record systems. Provides general supervision to non-nursing clinical staff, including medical assistants and technicians. Secondary responsibilities of this position include occasional external activities related to the health and wellbeing of the WSU community, professional development, and advocating for WSU students. The RN1 will collaborate primarily with internal partners and promote an attitude of inclusion, diversity, access, and equity to create successful outcomes for students.
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position,. This position is overtime exempt.
Monthly Salary:
$5,404 to $8,857 | Range 58N (Steps A-U) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
Ability to obtain a Washington State License upon hire.
Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training with BLS (Basic Life Support).
Experience manipulating and entering patient data into an electronic health record system.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Ability to learn advanced EHR systems modalities.
One year experience in ambulatory, outpatient, med-surg, urgent care, or emergency department within the past 5 years.
Membership in professional organization.
