Nurse Assist in Training: Get paid to train and be a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in just 6 weeks!
Job Summary
Become familiar with the facility’s administrative structure as introduced in the pre-training orientation session. Perform assigned nursing and administrative tasks while ensuring compliance with facility policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift on the same day they occur.
Use only authorized abbreviations established by the facility when recording information.
Report all changes in a resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
Maintain confidentiality of residents' protected health information and promptly report any suspected or known violations to the Administrator.
Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempts to access the facility’s information system.
Perform only those nursing care procedures for which you have received training.
Resident Care Responsibilities
Ensure the resident’s room is ready upon arrival (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.).
Greet and escort residents to their rooms.
Introduce residents to their roommate, if applicable, and other personnel.
Inventory, mark, and store residents' personal possessions.
Assist residents in packing personal belongings when transferring to a new room or being discharged.
Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles as necessary.
Participate in and receive nursing reports as instructed.
Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Make beds and provide extra covers as requested.
Measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs) as instructed.
Weigh and measure residents as required.
Ensure that residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.
Answer resident calls promptly.
Routinely check residents to ensure personal care needs are met.
Assist residents with identifying food arrangements, such as describing tray contents for those with sight impairments.
Record resident food and fluid intake and report changes in eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
Keep residents' water pitchers clean, filled with fresh water, and within easy reach.
Perform after-meal care (i.e., remove trays, clean hands, face, clothing, etc.).
Complete all assigned tasks following established policies and supervisor instructions.
Follow work assignments and schedules.
Cooperate with interdepartmental personnel to ensure adequate nursing services.
Report occupational exposures to blood, bodily fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals per facility policies.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure.
Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
Respect residents' refusal of treatment and report such requests to your supervisor.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Must possess at least an 8th-grade education.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear.

May be required to assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
