About the Role
Under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Manager, you will provide delivery of quality, supportive care of clients in Depaul House in collaboration with other health professionals. You will support the client in withdrawal by considering their physical and psychological needs by reducing further risks.

  • Monitoring physical withdrawals
  • Evaluating client’s needs, responding in a timely manner, involvement in coordinating and collaborating with the treatment team in all aspects of client management in recovery process
  • Identifying and anticipating decline in clients’ physical /emotional withdrawal states
  • Being responsible for having information and knowledge of client history, progress and follow up via handover
  • Ensuring documentation is in accordance with SVHM requirements
  • Ensuring the team functioning includes the safety and cleanliness of unit, maintaining equipment (domestic and medical) and timely reporting of damages
  • Considering the cost and budgeting implications when using or obtaining consumables in relation to the operation of Depaul House
  • Participating in and facilitating groups according to the in-house program activities

Classifications for this position will range from IB66 to IB72 ($70,200 - $74,692 per annum pro rata)


Your Contribution

  • Current Nursing Registration with APHRA
  • Ability to participate and facilitate groups according to the in-house program activities
  • Proficient with case formulation, development of discharge planning and follow up. Performs responsibilities in a timely manner and prioritises work demands to ensure client clinical needs are met
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  •  Knowledge of work place statutory and regulatory requirements and their impact upon nursing care delivery
  • Commitment to supporting organisational change
  • Commitment to ongoing educational and professional development
  • Ability to prioritise work demands to ensure client clinical needs are met
  • Enrolled Nurse (Endorsed) Qualification
  • A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

Depaul House is a 12 bed Community Residential Alcohol and Other Drug Withdrawal unit, caring for people and providing a medicated withdrawal for up to 10 days. Depaul House fosters a standard of excellence within a skilled and compassionate team of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Welfare Workers.
