About the role:

Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses (RN) with a minimum 18 months post registration acute ward experience, who are interested in a career in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for our exciting and very successful ‘JOB IS FROM: nursingjobs.siteVIEWTransition to ICU’ (TIC) Program.

The TIC Program aims to support the RN’s transition into ICU and fast track their development over a 12 month period and provides initial ICU Orientation and Education, followed by a 2 week supernumerary period and a further 4 week preceptorship. The cohort of successful candidates will be supported simultaneously to complete the NSW ICU Transition to Specialty Practice Program (TTSP) over the initial 12 months of employment.

The program also requires a commitment to complete the Associated Capability Assessments within the 12 months which is equivalent to our ICU’s Novice and Advanced Beginner Level 1A skills & competencies. This program includes 2 x 6 month rotations between the Cardiothoracic/Transplant and the General/Neuro/Trauma ICU specialties, together with ongoing employment at program completion.

The successful candidates will need to be available to commence on 12th May 2025.

About you:
We are seeking skilled and energetic Registered Nurses who possess a passion for person centred care and a desire to pursue a career in Intensive Care. We welcome applications from experienced RNs who have been working in Acute Care for 18 months and will be available to commence the Program on 12th May 2025.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

2. Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.

3. Minimum of 18 months post registration acute ward experience as a registered nurse and demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice.

4. Demonstrated ability to work within the interdisciplinary team.

5. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

6. Demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system.

7. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

8. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment.
