$16.00/hour during CNA training
After 6-8 weeks, pay based on experience in patient care.

HSHS PAID CNA Apprenticeship program in partnership with Midwest Career Source to receive CNA certification (pending passed exam), followed by a 1 year, full time work commitment with HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.

Position Specifics:
- Department: Med Surg Unit or Cardiac Step Down, Telemetry
- Schedule: Full time, 36 hrs/wk
- Facility:  St. Elizabeth's Hospital
- Location: O'Fallon, IL

Once the 6-8 week training program is completed within HSHS, you will be gainfully employed as a Patient Care Assistant working with patients in Med Surg or Cardiac/Telemetry Units within HSHS.

Must attend classes in a program approved by the sponsoring department. Class time is paid for as part of apprenticeship. Student must be able to work a flexible schedule and will be required to work evenings weekends and holidays. Familiarity with medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to work with others. Basic understanding of computer systems and how they are used in health systems. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to all patients/family served. Possess good reading and writing skills as well as the capability of learning sterile procedures and technical equipment operations. Possess good communication and human relations skills. Is able to adapt to changes in assignments in a mature manner. Demonstrate strong customer service behaviors.

Experience

Possess good communication and human relations skills. Possesses both the interest and the ability to learn about procedures/operations. Demonstrates strong customer service behaviors. Must be detail focused with respect to data collection and analysis activities. Excellent word processing/computer skills. Ability to perform tasks with minimal direct supervision.
