This position will cover Western Canada ( BC and Alberta) (16 to 18 Month Contract position)

JOB PURPOSE:

As a GSK medical science liaison (MSL), your role will function as a key scientific resource for Canadian gynecological oncology-related specialists. Your three core responsibilities are: 1) responding to requests for in-depth, scientific information in the field of women’s cancers; 2) discussing and contextualizing new data from scientific conferences, publications, and GSK's pipeline to ensure a strong external understanding of how the science fits into clinical practice; 3) for driving capturing important scientific insights from the external environment to support GSK’s research efforts as well inform overall medical strategy. As a GSK MSLs, you will be expected to drive impact through robust scientific exchange, improving healthcare professionals scientific understanding of our data, and supporting optimal care for people living with gynecological malignancies in Canada.

  • Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts by presenting balanced scientific data, supporting advanced medical educational opportunities, and providing scientific support with the highest of industry standards following GSK values, policies, standards, applicable laws, and regulations.

  • Be recognized as the scientific field-based partner in the territory and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of oncology, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation aligned to business strategy.
  • Be agile and adaptable to engage and provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders (i.e., healthcare professionals, investigators, professional societies, organizations, advocacy groups, and decision-makers) in a non-promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited inquires.
  • Build and implement comprehensive territory plans to meet medical targets and objectives. The ideal candidate should demonstrate adept leadership skills in nurturing collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners, ensuring alignment of strategies and fostering cohesive territorial engagement.
  • Be a proactive and solutions-oriented partner as the primary interface between the healthcare community and the internal cross-functional GSK teams to gather and share back insights that inform current and future business strategies. 
  • Represents GSK at scientific congresses by providing session/abstract coverage, booth staffing coverage, leading external expert engagement plans and contributing to scientific end of congress summaries/share-backs as required.   
  • Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved sales training materials.
  • Assist the medical, clinical and HEOR teams with Investigator Initiated Studies and real-world evidence projects as needed, and support identification of potential clinical trial sites for clinical development activities in Canada as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • An advanced post-graduate scientific degree (MD, Ph.D., PharmD)
  • Successful candidate must reside within Canada
  • Exceptional aptitude to apply and leverage scientific and medical data with scientific credibility while enabling peer-to-peer discussion and debate is essential. 
  • Excellent public speaker, with outstanding scientific presentation skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on cross-functional teamwork 
  • Strong demonstration of strategic mindset in developing and executing comprehensive territory plans to achieve medical targets and objectives.
  • Proficiently showcase leadership in fostering collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners to align strategies and drive cohesive territorial engagement
  • Employ proactivity, resourcefulness and innovative thinking to bring value to external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of regulations governing medical information exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment. 
  • Sound negotiation, leadership, and organization skills. 
  • Familiarity with reimbursement processes in Canada
  • A valid driver's license is required for this field-based position. 
  • Ability to work independently and ability to travel throughout the territory up to 70% with evenings and weekends involved

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in oncology (+2 years) in a medical affairs position with established relationships/connections with associated healthcare professionals is strongly preferred.
