General Statement of Job
The accounting internship serves as an opportunity to learn about the core roles and responsibilities that comprise the Austin Community College (“the College”) District’s Business Services Office. The successful candidate will work alongside people at all Finance & Administration (F&A) organization levels. This role is designed to support the accounting and finance teams while offering you an opportunity to get hands-on experience. We are looking for team players willing to participate in all areas of the Business Services Office.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Works in a team environment to perform a plethora of accounting-related tasks.
- Assists with ongoing initiatives, projects, and special projects as assigned.
- Collaborates with others to address our business partners’ concerns.
- Helps to research and compile data for stakeholders.
- Provides recommendations for new procedures or best practices to improve efficiency.
Knowledge
Possesses a basic accounting and finance knowledge.
Skills
Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing, listen to co-workers' directives, and provide exemplary customer service to our business partners.
Self-motivated individual who can work independently or as part of a team.
Pays attention to detail and follows through on work assignments.
Responsible person who adheres to the College’s protocols and guidelines.
Maintains the confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Technology Skills
Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Special Requirements
Must be registered for the Accounting Practicum
Safety
Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
Report unsafe working conditions and behavior.
Take reasonable and prudent actions to eliminate identified hazards.
