Role and Responsibilities

Position Summary

Intern will help with development, validation and deployment of tools and applications relevant to RAN (Radio Access Network) in Telecom Networks being part of the Virtualization team in Networks Engineering (Networks Division in Samsung Electronics America). Team is responsible for delivering Virtualized RAN solutions for US Telecom Operators. In this position, Intern will have an opportunity to learn about Virtualization and Open RAN architecture providing 5G services that is transforming the Telecom Industry and enabling new services.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team designing and developing tools and applications for system dimensioning and system migration

  • Assist with requirements gathering across teams as part of the design activities

  • Installation and commissioning of the tools/applications in lab environments

  • Test and validation of the tools/applications in lab including creating test plans and execution in lab environment

Skills and Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing MS in Computer Science  or in Telecommunication
  • Expert Programing Skills in Shell / Python / XML scripting
  • Knowledge on Virtualization – K8 Containers and VMs, Red Hat OpenShift/OpenStack
  • Intermediate in Database management (e.g. MySQL, Redis)
  • Intermediate frontend development skills (e.g. Java)
  • Skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word required
  • Analytic skills to evaluate information from a variety of sources
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Team oriented, but able to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework in Networking, Virtualization

  • Exposure to Telecom and Networking
