Position Overview:

SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB)

Performs and documents accurately continuous observation under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalency.

Experience: One year of previous work experience.

Knowledge and Skills: Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to successfully deal with problems.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Does this position formally supervise employees? No

If set to YES, then this position has the authority (delegated) to hire, terminate, discipline, promote or effectively recommend such to manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures constant attendance throughout shift for assigned patient. Ensures patient is visible at all times.
  • Ensures patient is within reaching distance at all times including during bathroom and shower use and during visiting hours.
  • Keeps company with patient and helps with eating and other difficult tasks for the patient. Removes dangerous items from patient as directed by registered nurse.
  • Accompanies patient transport to testing areas. Reports accurately what the patient eats and drinks to nurse and clears areas as needed.
  • Adapts willingly to changing department demands. Remains flexible in staffing patterns and assignments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Occasional physical demands include Standing, Walking, climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders, carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, reaching forward, reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Taste or Smell
Continuous physical demands include Sitting, Talk or Hear
Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs.
Sensory Requirements include: Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Minimal Depth Perception, Accurate Hearing

Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks Include the following: Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Airborne Communicable Disease, Extreme Temperatures, Uneven Surfaces or Elevations, Extreme Noise Levels, Dust/Particulate Matter
