Cancer and blood disorders are challenging conditions that require experts who devote themselves to researching and treating these diseases with diligence and compassion. Our specialists treat even the most complex cancerous and noncancerous (benign) disorders with advanced treatments and exceptional care. As an RN in the Oncology Unit, you will assist physicians, nurses and other caregivers in caring for patients receiving critical treatments. Your efforts can make a lasting difference in the lives of your patients and their families.
A caregiver in this position works from 7:00AM – 7:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
- Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
- Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
- Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
- Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
- Document in patients’ medical records.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
- Cancer specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe of the facilities accreditation cycle
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking from department to department
- Sitting at a workstation or desk
- Occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as files, documents and computer printouts
- Finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level
