The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join us on a full-time basis within our Day Surgery Unit. In this pivotal role, the CNE will be an essential resource in advancing the careers of our staff by supporting training and development opportunities.
The CNE will work closely with the MQ Health Academy and the Unit Manager to plan, develop, and deliver dynamic education programs, both hospital-wide and within specific departments. A key aspect of this role is fostering a culture of continuous development and inquiry to ensure the ongoing growth and progression of our nursing staff. The role encompasses on-floor teaching, coaching, and formal instruction. Therefore, a genuine passion for teaching and knowledge-sharing is essential. The successful candidate will utilise a variety of innovative methods to engage and effectively educate staff.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Accredited Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Cardiac Physiologists, Radiographers, and Administration Support Officers.
Key accountabilities include (not limited to):
Provide clinical expertise in the development and facilitation of learning within the Day Surgery Unit and MQ Health Academy
Provide evidence-based support to all nursing staff within the unit to meet standards of care
Lead the development and facilitation of identified mandatory and continuing professional development education
Support standardised orientation processes with Nursing Unit Managers (NUM).
Coordinate and monitor pathways and progressions of nursing staff within the unit
Provide subject matter expertise in the development of education resources within and external to the department.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and delivering clinical education concerning Recovery or Day Surgery at a departmental level, with a focus on supporting the ongoing development of nursing staff. You will possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to tailor training to a diverse range of staff levels while applying appropriate learning styles. The role will require you to collaborate closely with both staff and management to address the department's needs, demonstrating strong clinical and critical thinking abilities. Experience in preceptorship and other teaching roles will be highly regarded.

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1–2-page cover letter addressing the essential criteria:
Essential
Experience working as a Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Acting Clinical Nurse Educator with a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in Day Surgery
Proven ability to prioritise work and delegate tasks
Demonstrated experience in preceptorship and mentoring of staff
Proven ability to adapt to changing circumstances
Strong skills in computer literacy
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, especially in patient service setting
Desirable
Evidence of continual professional development (i.e. courses commensurate in related fields)
Post-graduate qualifications in education, clinical care, or recovery.
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or working towards the same

Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for NSW (Please provide your WWCC number in your application)
Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
